How to prepare
You’ll do better on the tests if you know what to expect before testing day arrives. A preparation class isn’t required, but it’s highly recommended! See prep classes here: Adult Education.
To prepare on your own, use the official practice test. Or go to oslis.org and select the following (important: this allows you to register as a non-PCC student): click Secondary Student, then click Find Information. Choose Core Skills, Test Prep, & More: Learning Express?(Version 3.0,? not 2.0). You’ll be taken to the Welcome to Learning Express Library: click New User and Register. For questions, contact libraries@learningexpressllc.com or 1-800-295-9556.
Eligibility
Oregon residency isn’t required. You must not have a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate. If you’re under 18, see requirements for underage students: GED.com: Getting Your GED in Oregon.? Home-schooled students will be required to provide an exemption from their school district – contact your school district for authorization. If your status indicates that you need additional documentation, you will get an email to connect with a PCC Testing Center.
GED? vouchers
Programs can buy vouchers directly at GED.com vouchers to use with their students. Vouchers are valid for 365 days from the date of purchase. PCC does not carry vouchers.
Retaking the test
For retake cost and waiting period, see GED.com: Getting Your GED in Oregon.
Accommodated testing
To request modified testing conditions for a documented disability, visit GED? Testing Accommodations. Check your email for instructions for scheduling. For help, call the PCC Testing Center at 971-722-5681 or PCC Accessible Ed & Disability Resources at 971-722-8881.
Interpreting test scores
Watch your email with a link to review scores (typically arrives within 24 hours). Tests are scored on a scale of 100 to 200:
- 100-144: below passing
- 145-164: pass (high school equivalency)
- 165-174: college ready
- 175-200: college ready + credit
A minimum score of 145 on each test and a total score of 580 across all four tests is needed to earn a GED? certificate.
Certificate and transcripts
See how to request your GED? transcript. Oregon uses a paperless system to issue transcripts and certificates. You can forward the electronic transcript directly to colleges and employers.
