When preparing to take an exam at one of the PCC Testing Centers:

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early for your scheduled exam.
  • Bring a valid government-issued photo ID or a student photo ID.
  • Remember that phones and personal items are not allowed in the testing rooms (a locker is provided).
  • Make sure to arrange childcare. Children and visitors are not allowed in the testing rooms, and we are unable to supervise children while students take exams.

Proctored exams

For students who receive testing accommodations and are registered with Accessible Education and Disability Resources (AEDR), see information about scheduling an accommodated exam.

For students who aren’t able to attend an in-class exam and need to schedule a make-up staff-supervised exam at a testing center, see information about scheduling a proctored exam.

ESOL placement tests

PCC offers classes to help students learn to speak English. To begin taking ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes, you must take a placement test so that we can help you find the right class to start with.

Competency exams

  • Chemistry 151
    Passing this exam allows you to bypass Chemistry 151, which is a prerequisite for Chemistry 221 (General Chemistry I).
  • Math 65
    This exam is intended to satisfy the requirements for certain PCC degrees. Use ALEKS for Math placement.

Placement process

The placement process will help guide you through the steps to determine which Math, Reading, and Writing courses you should begin with.

High school equivalency tests

The GED? test demonstrates a high school level of education.

Contracted tests

PCC’s Testing Centers partner with state departments and private organizations to offer various licensure and standardized exams.

Credit for prior learning

PCC offers several options for students who wish to earn credits for subjects they have learned in a non-college setting, like on-the-job training or in the military. This includes course challenges which may involve an examination taken at a Testing Center.
