Welcome to my homepage!
Hello! ?
Welcome to my website! I have been teaching at? PCC for the past 16 years and plan to continue for the unseeable future because I LOVE teaching math. I’ve taught? many courses in all the formats ~ Face to Face, Hybrid and Remote classes? Each time I teach it, I learn something new.? ?
A little about me. How did I become qualified to teach math at PCC? My education started when I was in high school.? I was raised in a small logging town in SE Alaska. I had the chance to work with elementary teachers to help students in math. I completed my undergraduate at Western Oregon State in Monmouth Oregon back in 1989.? Yes I’m that old ?? I started teaching high school in 1990 and started my Masters at Portland State University and completed it in 1998.? Sixteen years ago I started teaching night classes right here at PCC . During the day I taught at? Clackamas High School.? During this time I married and? had two children, so you can imagine how hectic that time was!? Last year after teaching 33 years? at the high school level I retired.? ?I decided to continue working at PCC because I still LOVE teaching.??
My philosophy of teaching is that I’m a facilitator.? I believe this quote from Benjamin Franklin?“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”?
Remote and Online learning? is different from? face to face classes.? I really enjoy teaching Remote and Face to Face classes because? it is nice to have the weekly class time to discuss and interact with each other.? Whether you take my class face to face or online you have access to me via class,? D2L, email, Google meet,? and Myopenmath Forum. The responsibility for become proficient in the course falls on you being an active learner, communicating your needs, and being dedicated to the course work.? HOWEVER?I’m here to help you along the way.? Think of me as a guide: I will be here to guide you on your journey, but you must be prepared to do the walking. I take pride in making sure students are proficient in the topics so that they can successfully complete the course. Let’s Do This Together !
