Welcome!
SOC230 Introduction to Gerontology provides an overview of the central practices, programs and policies related to adult aging and later life.
This fully online course is required for the AAS Degree in Gerontology and Gerontology Professional Certificate. It also fulfills the Social Science General Education and Cultural Literacy requirements.
Prerequisites: WR 115, RD 115, and MTH 20 or equivalent placement test scores
Learning activities include required weekly reading and discussion assignments, as well as a capstone Applied Research Project.
There is one required text, available in both digital and print formats, which can be purchased or rented through the PCC Bookstore -- Moody and Sasser's Aging: Concepts and Controversies (10th edition). (This text is also used for SOC223 Sociology of the Life Course.)
