Details about this class
This class is co-taught by Mariah Tilman (Volcanologist) and Sam Pennypacker (Atmospheric Scientist).
The zoom session will cover background geology and important logistical details about the field portion of the class.
Saturday in the field we will explore and discuss the impact of the Missoula Floods on the Portland area landscape. There will be several short, flat hikes, and one steeper one at Mt Tabor. We encourage students of all abilities to register for field classes, if you need accommodations please reach out.
This 1 credit course is designed to be taken as a pass/no pass credit.
Technology
Students will need a webcam with a microphone or some other technological means to attend the informational Zoom meeting on Thursday, July 10th.
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
