Details about this class
This is a fun class where we read lots of different kinds of things in order to practice a variety of reading skills. We also read short stories from around the world that show how people use English in different ways. We will read a lot, and we will talk a lot about what we read in order to share ideas and information.
If you have any questions, please contact me: Tim Krause: timothy.krause@pcc.edu
Technology
You will need to be able to have regular access to the internet for this course. You will need to be able to read stories, and watch and listen to videos online. You will need to be able to use Google Docs, PCC email, and D2L. We have two textbooks:
1. "Read Faster, Understand More" -- You can print this book for FREE at a PCC computer lab, at home, at work, or at a Multnomah County Library. If you don't want to print it yourself, you can purchase copy from the PCC bookstore.
2. "Short Stories from the Outer Circle" -- This is only a website; there is no book to print. You can access this website from your computer, laptop, smartphone or other device with internet.
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
