This course covers photography, broadly exploring its history, science, and techniques as well as social and cultural impacts and influences in a historical and contemporary context. ɳ°ÍÌåÓý¹ÙÍøs the critical skills necessary to examine aesthetic and formal solutions while creating your own imagery. This course is organized around lectures and discussion of relevant topics that are further explored during in-class demonstrations, activities, and weekly out of class photography assignments. Through this process, students will engage in practical application of skills, concepts and themes as well as participate in lectures, critiques, in-class activities, and group discussion during class time. Student success will be supported via scheduled individual midterm meetings coursework, Final Project and Signature Assignment. Office hours will also be available either in-person or remotely to further support student success.

Must have access to a camera, preferably with the ability to make photographs in "Manual" mode-meaning that you are able to adjust shutter, aperture and ISO (film speed or light sensitivity). Manual cameras are available for check out from the library. ANY camera will do, though!

A tripod is useful, but not necessary, and can also be checked out from the library.

Please have access to internet, PCC websites, PCC emails, PCC D2L.

Helpful but not required:

• Card reader/Camera cable: For downloading your images to your computer. This will be important if your computer does not have an SD card slot (optional)
• Hard Drive/Thumb Drive
• Film: If you are shooting analog
• Microsoft Office or equivalent (Google Docs, Word, etc). You must be able to save files as doc, docx, or pdf format.
