Details about this class

In this class, students will: 

  • read and discuss a range of contemporary poems
  • write original poems 
  • memorize and recite at least one poem
  • present poems for workshop, and provide feedback
  • revise poems
  • engage with ideas and theories about poetry
  • present a portfolio of eight to ten pages of revised poems

Required texts and materials:

  • A textbook: Real Toads, Imaginary Gardens: On Reading and Writing Poetry Forensically, by Paisley Rekdal
  • A composition notebook
