Details about this class
Before I say anything about the class, let me say this… my goal is that every student who registers passes the class. That doesn’t mean you don’t have to work, but it does mean that you can count on me to do everything I can to make sure you get through this class and learn some stuff about writing.
Here's a description of my course from my most recent WR121 syllabus:
This is a writing course, so we’ll write, read, re-read, analyze, evaluate, and revise a variety of non-fiction texts written by both professional writers and our class. All of that stuff put together, that’s what writing is. By the end of the term, you’ll have produced polished drafts of four-ish writing projects—letters and essays and more. While we’re doing all of that, we will be loosely focused on learning more about college—and the issues facing higher education across the United States today.
So, why do all this? In developing these skills, you will be preparing for the writing situations you’ll find in future college courses and gaining some insights into many other spots in your life where writing is key.
