Details about this class
My name is Karah, and this is my seventh year teaching writing at PCC. As an instructor, I believe that writing is a skill anyone can improve with practice.
This is a hybrid course, so we will meet in person for class every week on Tuesday at PCC Rock Creek. If you sign up for this course, you're committing to coming to our weekly class meetings regularly.
In this composition course, we'll focus on the writing process—drafting, getting feedback, and reflecting on our efforts. You'll complete writing in different genres throughout the term. You'll also have opportunities to reflect on the skills you're practicing and the ways they might be useful outside of a classroom setting.
We'll use a contract grading system in this course, which means you won't get a letter grade on each individual assignment. Instead, you'll get a final letter grade based on completing a certain number of assignments throughout the quarter. We'll talk more about the grading system during our first class together.
If you have questions for me about WR 121, feel free to reach out! You can also check out our syllabus for the course here.
Technology
You'll need some type of word processor (Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Pages, etc.) to complete your assignments. You'll also need reliable Internet access and some kind of device (computer, phone, tablet) to access D2L.
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
