Details about this class
Hello and welcome!
I'm Dr. Kelsey Kelley, and I'm so glad you're interested in my Intro Psych course! ??
We'll have the chance to dive into some fascinating topics together, from the importance of sleep and dreaming to how to study more effectively. I hope to see you this term! :)
Do I need to buy anything to take this class?
No! This course uses 100% free, open-access materials. Online readings will be provided within D2L in place of an expensive, traditional textbook. If you'd like to purchase a physical copy of the reading, you're welcome to do so through the PCC bookstore (see link at top right of this webpage), but it is not required if you are happy using the online digital format.
What does it mean for our class to be fully in-person?
Our in-person class meets two times a week on PCC's Cascade Campus for a combination of lectures, demonstrations of psychological effects, fun videos, class discussions, and application practice activities. In addition to these meetings, you should expect to spend time outside of class completing assigned readings, studying, and submitting assessments.
So do I have to attend class meetings?
Our in-person meetings will be important to your success on class assessments, such as exams, and every meeting we will devote at least some time in class to activities that count toward your course grade. Though in-class work can be made up for absences, if you know you will not be able to attend class regularly, you would be better served by one of PCC's fully asynchronous online courses and should not enroll in this one.
More questions?
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me - I am happy to clarify anything and hope to see you this term!
