Details about this class

Course Details

This is a fully online course with no dedicated all-class meeting days/times. I will be available to meet with students via Zoom during my regularly scheduled office hours.

The following book is required for the course PHL202: Moral Philosophy: A reader, 4th Edition. Edited by Pojman and Tramel. ISBN: 9780872209626.

Although not officially a “low-cost materials” course, buying or renting the course text book will typically cost students between $35-$50. These options are available through the PCC Bookstore website. In addition, students will be able to access an eBook copy for free through the PCC Library website and there is a hard copy on reserve at the Sylvania Campus Library for student use.

Course Information

Some of the question we'll address in the course include:

  • Is what is morally good relative to each individual, or is it universal?
  • How do we as individuals make ethical judgments? As communities?
  • What is the relationship between God and morality?

Course assignments consist of weekly study questions (30% total), 2 exams (40% total), a rough draft (10%) and a final paper (20%).
