The required textbook for this class is Experience Music (6th edition), by Katherine Charlton, and it will be available at the PCC Sylvania bookstore, as well as through numerous online retailers. All of the pertinent links, referenced below, will be provided at the beginning of the term.

Please do not let the cost of the textbook be a deterrent, as there are numerous ways you can obtain the required text for significantly less money. While I totally understand the cost of textbooks can be challenging, I have found it is difficult to fully process the important information without a central location where all of the content can be easily accessed.

Based on your preference and budget, you can choose to purchase a physical copy or an e-book, or to rent an e-book.

Physical copy:

If you purchase the book from the PCC Sylvania book store it will come with an access code to sign up for a Connect account, which we will be using to access our listening examples, as well as an electronic version of the book.

You are not required to purchase the version of the book with the access code, it is available to you so that you can have all of the listening examples in the same place. If you feel that you can find the listening examples another way then you are welcome to do that. You can also choose to purchase the book elsewhere, and then purchase the access code separately.

If you purchase an older edition of the book please note that the page numbers referred to within our course refer to the pages found in the 5th edition. Some of the required reading will have different page numbers in older editions of the book.
