Details about this class
Welcome to JPN201: Second Year Japanese - First Term (CRN 41096)
Placement:
JPN201 is for students having completed JPN103 or the equivalent. If you are unsure if JPN201 is the right class for you, please email me about taking a placement test at: nao.okumura@pcc.edu
In this course you will learn to speak, read, write and understand Japanese from the first day of class. We have face to face class meetings on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00pm - 3:20pm. You can access our course site and materials by going through D2L Brightspace - the learning platform that all courses use at PCC.
During our class meetings we will engage in a variety of pair, small group and whole class activities where you learn to read, write, speak and understand Japanese. Learning language works best when people get to know and trust one another - this can be challenging, but also very rewarding!
In addition to our class meetings, you will also have work that you will complete asynchronously on your own time, such as homework and projects. You will need to spend 4-5 hours a week studying and completing homework assignments per week. I also will offer office hours where we can meet one-on-one so that I can help and answer your questions.
Feel free to contact me via email if you have any questions about the course (nao.okumura@pcc.edu)[opens in new window]).

No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
