Details about this class
G 200E introduces you to the geology of the Cascades Volcanic Arc. This 1 credit field course will meet twice. The first meeting will be via Zoom on Thursday, September 25th from 7pm to 9pm. The second meeting will be an all-day in person field trip on Saturday, September 27th with van transportation provided by PCC. The class will meet at Southeast campus at 8:00 am on Saturday, September 27th and will return to Southeast by 6:00 pm on the same day. Students will need to dress in outdoor clothes suitable for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. We will be exploring a local Cascade volcano including some short hikes (less than a mile) on maintained trails. Food will not be provided; students will need to bring a sack lunch and reinforcement snacks and water or beverages for the day. Detailed information about the trip and necessary materials will be shared during the Zoom meeting on Thursday, September 25th. Other than food, there are no additional fees or expenses for this 1-day field trip to the Cascades. Fieldwork is supported and encouraged for all students, regardless of abilities, if you need an accommodation to participate it will be provided.
G 200E is a 1 credit course designed to be taken as a pass/no pass credit. If you prefer to take G 200E for a letter grade, you will need to change the grade status with the registrar’s office. The steps required for making a change in grade status are provided at /student-records/grade-options/. Please take care of this prior to our first meeting if desired.
Thank you for your interest in this course and we look forward to learning with you in the field.
