Details about this class

This is a fully Online course with no zoom meetings to attend. The content is hosted on D2L (Brightspace) and you have to submit assignments each week

Introduces the ethical hacking methodologies. Covers applying cyber security concepts to discover and report vulnerabilities in a network. Explores legal and ethical issues associated with ethical hacking. Prerequisites: CIS 179, CIS 140L, and CIS 284C or instructor permission. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

1. Prepare a vulnerability assessment and penetration test for a network.

2. Execute a penetration test using standard hacking tools in an ethical manner.

3. Report on the strengths and vulnerabilities of the tested network.

4. Identify legal and ethical issues related to vulnerability and penetration testing.

Technology

The course utilizes cloud-based labs from Jones & Bartlett Learning that require a web browser and an internet connection to access. In addition you will need word processing software such as Microsoft Word, OpenOffice Writer, or Google Docs.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
