Details about this class

Welcome! I am glad you're here. I'm the instructor, Kelley Whitmore. Please read the class details below.

This is an in-person reading and writing class to prepare you for taking the GED. The majority of the classwork is done during class.

No textbook is needed. Class materials like readings, worksheets, quizzes, and other assignments will be passed out each week.

Knowing how to access your PCC email is essential as I will send email announcements over the term. Emails will include links to previous assignments and material if you'd like to review or if you miss a class.

Assignments are based on what is covered during the class time.  We will typically focus on reading on Mondays and writing on Wednesdays.  We will build on what we learn each week.

While this class does not require a mid-term or final exam, you can expect quizzes, worksheets, and writing exercises each week. Building your skills in all of these exercises is an essential part of preparing for the GED, future college classes, and professional settings.

You can access your PCC email by logging into "My PCC" account.  Look at the top right of the page an icon resembling an envelope. Click on that to access your PCC email. NOTE: You have to be accepted into PCC to have a "My PCC" email account.

Meeting with Students:

Homework help sessions are available by contacting me. These are not required, but available if you want to review a class topic. I will check-in with you regularly on your progress, but please reach out whenever you have a question.

Please reach out if you have additional questions.  My email is kelley.whitmore@pcc.edu.

Technology

You do not need any additional technology for this class. Assignments will be printed and passed out during class. If you ever want or need to submit an assignment via email, you can work with your instructor on the best way to do that.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.

Students with disabilities

Students with disabilities should notify their instructor if accommodations are needed to take this class. For information about technologies that help people with disabilities taking Online based classes please visit the Disability Services website.
