Job Summary:

The Dean of Career & Academic Planning is responsible for providing strategic leadership, oversight, and direction for academic and career guidance programs across the institution, including Pathway Advising and Career Services. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management & Student Success, the Dean plays a critical role in ensuring students receive comprehensive, proactive support in academic planning, career exploration, and transfer guidance from admission through graduation and/or career placement within a Guided Pathways model. This role will integrate student support services with institutional goals to promote equitable student success, career readiness, and workforce development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of advising and career services that align with institutional strategic goals and Guided Pathways.
  • 沙巴体育官网s and oversees a case-managed advising system that ensures holistic academic and career guidance for students.
  • Leads efforts to integrate academic and career pathways guidance into all aspects of student engagement, ensuring a seamless student experience.
  • Partners with Academic Affairs, workforce development, and external stakeholders to enhance career readiness and job placement opportunities.
  • Establishes and maintains transfer partnerships with universities, ensuring students receive comprehensive support for seamless transitions.

Student Success & Engagement:

  • Oversees academic and career advising services to ensure students have clear academic and career plans that support retention and completion.
  • 沙巴体育官网s strategies to track student progress, implement early intervention mechanisms, and provide targeted support for at-risk students.
  • Ensures equitable access to career development services, including internships, job placements, and career exploration programs.
  • Leads the development and implementation of innovative technologies that support student advising, academic planning, and career development.

Operational Oversight & Compliance:

  • Supervises managers, faculty, and professional staff within advising and career services, ensuring strong leadership and professional development opportunities.
  • 沙巴体育官网s and manage budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards related to advising, transfer policies, career services, and student support programs.
  • Serves as a key institutional contact for external agencies, employers, and transfer institutions.

?Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. Frequent travel to other locations is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, career services, or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional experience in student services, advising, career services, or related fields.
  • Four (4) years of management or supervisory experience in higher education.
