Course Description
This workshop will cover how to correctly identify some of the most common deciduous species grown in the landscape, focusing on trees and shrubs. Participants will learn how to identify each plant's key identification characteristics, which will help them with plant identification in the future.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:
1) Describe the difference in adaptations between deciduous and evergreen plant species.
2) Identify between alternate, opposite, and whorled leaf arrangements.
3) Use additional ID characteristics (leaf base/margin/apex, bark, habit, etc.) to narrow down the possibilities for species identification.
