Course Description

Covers basic sewing techniques used industry wide for production: straight and curved seams, top stitching, use of various notions, and zipper installations. Includes safe operation and maintenance of industrial straight stitch machines and understanding of production sewing practices.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Learn/demonstrate safe operation and maintenance of standard industrial straight stitch
sewing machines.
Learn/demonstrate basic sewing techniques used industry wide for production: straight
and curved seams, top stitching, use of various notions, zipper installations.
Learn/demonstrate ability to follow written directions for patterns as well as copying
production from sample models.
Learn/demonstrate ability to follow a project through to completion.
