Course Description

Provides an opportunity to develop individual projects related to Native American Studies, such as: in-depth research and study of an Indigenous language, documenting and reflecting on one's work with a tribal government, creating a practical resource for Native community organizations, or other projects which reflect the relationship of the student in question to the Native communities they want to serve with their work. Variable credit (1-4 credit hours, depending on the project). Requirement: a written project proposal that must be approved by the Instructor and Program or Pathway Dean before registration. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

  1. Meet the outcomes for this independent study course which are mutually agreed upon by the student and instructor in advance through a written learning contract, as appropriate to the credit awarded for this course.
