Course Description
Covers bees and what they need to be healthy, as well as managing them for either honey production or queen rearing and nuc production. Learn all the tools and equipment available, and how to use them. We will teach mainly with Langstroth 10 frame hives, but will also practice in 8 frame, Warre, and Top Bar hives. FlowHives will be demonstrated, as well as traditional extraction of honey.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Understand Bee biology and needs, and how that relates to their health.
Manage bees to get optimum yields of honey, or to raise queens or nuc’s for sale.
