Course Description
Culturally competent health professionals understand patients' diverse values, beliefs, and behaviors, customizing treatment to meet the patients' social and cultural needs. Gain essential cultural agility healthcare tools.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Demonstrate a higher level of self-awareness and sensitivity to the cultural implications
within a health care encounter, leading to an increase in creating a non-judgmental,
equitable and inclusive environment for patients.
Describe culture in a broad and inclusive way that assists with a demonstrated
understanding of health disparities and the social determinants of health.
Demonstrate improved ability to engage culturally diverse patients in a cooperative health
care decision making processes and to engage in intercultural communication using a
variety of tools and resources.
